To know and be known by the creator of all creation. To be held and not touched. To be touched and not held. To be a risk of the greatest risk taker of all time. To be the object of an affection without strings. To be heard in His presence without seeing His face. To feel the peace and gentleness of His eternal power. To be made whole while standing in the middle of emptiness. To be given sight in total darkness. To feel love while staring into hatred. To be given hope of the end before you begin. To be encouraged while standing completely alone. To feel His firm foundation as you watch the ground crumble beneath your feet. To have the boldness of a thousand lions while shaking uncontrollably in your own skin. To hear His whisper in a storm.

Experiencing any of these or all of these is to experience the audacity of God. 

He reaches out for you knowing that you may not want to be reached. He stands close knowing that you just want to be left alone. He stands watching your every action when you choose not to have a voice. He loves you even when you choose to be unlovable. He lifts you up even when you choose to let go. He stands ready to catch you when you choose to fall. He carries all your weaknesses in His strength. He gave us life in surrendering His own. He sought us out while we were hiding from ourselves. He gave us healing when we didn’t even know we were broken.

Knowing any of these or all of these is to know the audacity of God.

He is fearless in His pursuit of us. Bold in His love for us. Tenacious in His mercy toward us. 

The audacity of God to want us is overwhelming!

  1. Audacity. Good word. Never thought about God is audacious to reach out to us when we don’t want to be reached out. It’s true. I like it!
