Just who are you?

Within our technology based world there is not a lot of room to get to know anyone. Send an email, send a text, send a voice message, we even had to use technology to bring us back to face to face conversation with the reinvention of “face time” conversations. Our social media epidemic has brought us to a place where there is no true socializing. We have taken away the times when we get in the car and drive down the road to visit a friend, just to check on them. It’s no longer acceptable to stop by without an appointment. Now don’t get me wrong, I think that advancements in technology are great. But what have we taken from ourselves by just accepting the convenience. I’m often taken back buy the amount of people who I personally work with that I don’t know anything about other than what cell phone they use because that is the only way I ever see them is with a cell phone in their face. I have friends that I have far more conversations with over text messaging that I have ever had face to face. We seem to have taken the getting to know you on a personal level completely out of the equation. So upon thinking of these things I had to stop and ask the question. Do other people really know us? And by us I mean “Christians”. I hate to think that I have been given the task of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the world and my personal greatest tool in doing so is living by example and no one knows me well enough to even see my example.

Have you ever seen that person on some social media site that puts up all the scripture and the in your face phrases that make the most conservative Christians question how they do things and then you run into that person in town somewhere and they are let’s just say less than their media appearance makes them out to be. It is far to easy set behind a screen and be judgmental or better than thou and have all the correct answers to give to a messed up and dying world. I personally have major issues with the FB prophets that haven’t darkened the door of a church in 10 yrs yet when someone posts a picture that “they” find offensive they suddenly become the wrath of the almighty with chapter and verse to back them up whether correct or completely out of context doesn’t matter just that they make their point known.

The Bible tells us that in Daniel 12:4 concerning the end time that many shall run to fro, and knowledge shall increase. We have become so smart that we have lost our wisdom. We are friends with everyone in a virtual social media world yet we really know absolutely nothing about anyone in the world in which we live. I’m afraid that we are giving up our God given ability to connect with other people for the sake of convenience.

Who are you today? Are you just another social media account spewing from the phrase of the month club or can I shake your hand look you in the eye and know that you have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Do people see the difference in you? Are you just another fancy cell phone under contract to the fad of the month?

We have a whole world full of people headed straight to hell and they do not care. Why? Because too many of us don’t care!!! Do people really see you for what you are? Would it be and inconvenience if they did? When we stand before God on the great judgment day are you going to be that guy? The one who holds up the line because God has to ask him why? You know Him. You have experienced Him first hand and yet you shrug Him off at a moment notice like a pair of dirty socks. Are you afraid that someone might find out that you have a relationship with the God and creator of all? Who are you?
